Memories Art Journal Page Project by Finnabair
Artist Anna Dabrowska, also known as Finnabair, is well-known for her intricate and artistic mixed-media journal pages, collages, and altered art. Anna’s unique style really shines in this Memories Art Journal Project. Coordinating perfectly with her new line of mixed-mediums with Prima Marketing, Anna created a multi-layered journal page with lots of texture that includes spray inks, 3D Gloss Gel, stencils, scraps of paper and fabric, and embellishments.
Memories Art Journal Page Project Instructions:
Start by priming the pages of a journal with 2-3 layers of white gesso. If not primed, the pages can easily rip and will absorb a lot of paint and ink.
Once the gesso dries, stencil on a honeycomb pattern using purple shimmer spray and homemade tea stain. Use a paper towel to remove any extra paint.
Next, add some interesting glossy texture and enhance some of the sprayed dots by applying Art Basics Finnabair 3D Gloss Gel — which is heavy body gel medium — through the same honeycomb stencil. The 3D Gel will dry clear, but the tone will slightly change to match the tone of the color under it. This will add some extra interest and lovely, delicate texture to the pages.
When the background is complete and dry, start building layers with paper scraps, tapes, strips of ripped Prima Marketing Resist Canvas Dots, Art Ingredients Gold Leaf Mica Flakes, and scraps of lace. I used dimensional foam squares and soft gel medium as an adhesive for more delicate elements such as paper and fabric, and 3D Gloss Gel when adding metal elements and buttons.
Attach a photo to the final layer of paper with staples and then attach it to the page using dimensional foam squares.
For final touches, add some stamping, splashes of India Ink, and a few penciled in circles. Spray the project again with tea stain and purple shimmer to add shading to the fabric elements.
